RacePlots for 12 Hours at the Point

Here are two RacePlots created from snippets of partially captured live RMonitor timing and scoring traffic from the June 13, 2009 12 Hours at the Point race.

I crewed on the Bimmerworks team (R.I.P. Ryan) with the #99 car, a BMW 335ci.  Some interesting things to know about the race and our car from the plots above …

  • We didn’t have a fuel cell that would have allowed us to carry the maximum 25 gallons, so we had to stop every hour or so.  This is evidenced by our jagged drops in the “position” plot.
  • About 2/3rd into the race, we got some dump cans, so fuel delivery was much faster.  No more sharp drops in position.
  • Between hour 10 and 11 (see the “laps” plot), it downpoured, red flagging the race.  We came into the pits just before the red flag, so when the race went green, we were ready to take on fuel (mad calculations) while the other cars that came in under red had to go out.
  • More chatter about the race here
